God is in the details.
When we rely on our own strength, own wealth, own way, we miss seeing God in the details.
I went on a home visit. The coworker I was with presented the host with white orchirds.
Upon arrival, the first thing we noticed was the table as it was adorned with 3 or 4 pots of them. God certainly whispered ‘get white’ at the store. Purple would have been purchased but white was it and what we walked away with was a confirmation that God indeed is in the details.
In the Old Testament in Exodus 25.9, The Word says: “You must make it according to all that I show you — the pattern of the tabernacle as well as the pattern of all its furnishings.”
God gave detailed instruction: “Moreover you shall make the tabernacle with ten curtains of find woven linen and blue, purple, and scarlet thread; with artistic designs of cherubim you shall weave them.” Exodus 26.1
Detailed instruction was not just for the tabernacle but for the ark to be built, the desert wanderings, and even Christ’s journey to the cross.
Where else in the Bible do you see the well thought instruction of the Lord full of details?
We would be amiss if we didn’t look in Matthew and see how God cares for the world and is in the details. We don’t need to worry.
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air;
they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow.
They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will He not much more clothe you – you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ …But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:25-31, 33-34 NIV
Why do we worry?
Those who live relying on God’s provision each day and taking to heart the line from the Lord’s prayer “give us this day our daily bread” have a better understanding and see God in the details. They immediately give thanks. Do the same.
Take the rest of today and look for where you see God in the details whether big or small. Then, thank Him.
I suggest you write them down in a notebook or on a note on your phone or computer. You might be surprised what you see when you go looking. Please share your findings so we can be encouraged.
The Lord will direct and will be in the details. Look for them.
“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” Psalm 37.23
God desires to be apart of the details and will instruct. Let Him!
He did in the Old Testament and as we saw today, He still does now.
When you see Him in the details and share with another, you might just help someone…
as they see and hear and experience you being the church!
Let God be in the details and work that all our as you seek to serve and draw others to Him.
