Have you thought much about eternity?
Our finite minds have a hard time wrapping around the thought of forever.
When we look at ancient sites, we think “Wow, that’s old!” or if we know someone who is in their 90s or older, we look on in disbelief congratulating them for their old age.
When the earth was first created, I believe man lived much longer then and I, for one, can’t imagine being Methuselah who is the recorded oldest man in the Bible clocking in at 969 years. (Gen 5.27) Imagine living almost a millennium! I have an aunt who lived till she was 104 just a few days shy of her 105th birthday and oh the changes she had seen in living over a century! That is a long time and hard to wrap our finite minds around.
Well, back to eternity – can we really understand this side of heaven?
I don’t think so least not completely, but it is good to contemplate what is next and where you are going so you are ready to meet your maker.
Some believe everyone goes to heaven – reminds of the kids movie title All Dogs go to Heaven. I really don’t think that is the case for dogs or humans.
I also believe there is only one way to have salvation, which is to be forgiven from sin and confident that heaven will be your final destination, and that is by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ come to earth as our Savior and who is sitting on the right hand of Father God waiting for His soon coming return.
I know this may not be the popular view nor politically correct. Some may say there are many paths to eternity but I politely disagree and pray all find the right path before their time here is up.
I am not sure what heaven will look like or what we will do, but I for one am looking forward to the return of Christ when we are caught up in the sky to meet Him if I have not already passed over to the other side.
Will we live on a new earth that will be heaven?
What will we do?
I can be curious and wonder but I know that I know that I know, one day soon I will be off to infinity and beyond!
I can’t wait to see Jesus face to face. Be ready to meet your maker as the time is drawing nigh that every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Can I get an amen!
“Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and He will dwell with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” Revelation 21:1-8 NIV
Believe and share these things so others can join us to…
