boastful prayers

Why do some want acknowledgement for the things they do?

Loud, boastful prayers in public grate on me. May we be people that spend more time in private with our Lord then some who only want recognition when heard by others who hear their prayers instead of The One who answers them!

“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Matthew 6:6 NIV

Watch this powerful prayer ‘closet’ scene and be inspired to know the Holy Spirit is indeed working behind the scenes…

If you have not yet seen this movie in its entirety, please do and create your own ‘war’ room space.

Here’s the ‘heart’ of the movie…

God desires us to have a personal relationship with Him daily. I would even say He would be delighted if hourly we connected with Him.

Here’s a practical idea: every time you look at a clock to see the time, say a breath prayer.

We do not need to be on our knees for hours on end, although that is a great place to be. But, we should be connecting with God all through our waking hours.

Instead of engaging in boastful prayers, try applying these verses each and every day, each and every hour:

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV
