So true! Blood isn’t necessarily family but strive to keep blood family.
One of my sons says if he was not in our family, he would not have liked his brother and if they were not in the same family, he thinks they wouldn’t even be friends.
We naturally gravitate towards those likeminded or similar to us in stature, culture, even socioeconomic status. But, what we really need to do is bring others into our circles and love as blood and keep blood close. So often in this life, families get estranged. And let’s face it, some blood are just not easy to get along with but we are called to love regardless.
This is the month of ‘love‘ so why not be.the.church and love both blood that is family and family that is not blood.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.“ John 13.34
“But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” I Timothy 5.8 ESV
“Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” I John 5.8
