There are so many verses in the Word that we can try our whole earthly life to apply and will still be working on when the Lord returns or we head home.
Some that have impacted me deeply. They stay on my heart and have me contemplate how well I have been applying them.
Verses about living at peace, how to love others, and using our the tongue wisely should always get us thinking how can we live a better, more joy-filled life this side of heaven.
One is: “Do everything without complaining or arguing…” I Peter 2.14
Some can’t even get through a day without applying this one. Try to apply it daily the rest of this week then month then year.
Another that can be a great mantra in the home to repeat over and over simply says: “Love is patient. Love is kind.” I Corinthians 13.4
And the following I think we could try to contemplate our whole lives through and still be trying to apply it fully: “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” I Thessalonians 5.16-18
This one will truly transform your mind and focusing on these three commands will guarantee you to be a better version of you.
“Now that you’ve cleaned up your lives by following the truth, love one another as if your lives depended on it. Your new life is not like your old life. Your old birth came from mortal sperm; your new birth comes from God’s living Word. Just think: a life conceived by God Himself! That’s why the prophet said, the old life is a grass life, its beauty as short-lived as wildflowers; grass dries up, flowers droop but, God’s Word goes on and on forever. This is the Word that conceived the new life in you.
Summing up: be agreeable, be sympathetic, be loving, be compassionate, be humble. That goes for all of you, no exceptions. No retaliation. No sharp-tongued sarcasm. Instead, bless—that’s your job, to bless. You’ll be a blessing and also get a blessing. Whoever wants to embrace life and see the day fill up with good, here’s what you do: say nothing evil or hurtful; snub evil and cultivate good; run after peace for all you’re worth. God looks on all this with approval, listening and responding well to what He’s asked; but He turns His back on those who do evil things.”
1 Peter 1:22-25, 3:8-12 MSG
