how surrender applies to everything

This is my 5th year with a word to live by, but last year’s word is still sticking with me. It can literally apply to all previous themes and any to come. Any guesses on what it could be?

Well, as you think on that let me share what it taught and what it means. According to my dictionary app, it means to yield something, to give up, to submit. We need to do this when we lose control or can’t control. Christ did this flawlessly when He came to earth and yielded His will to His Father’s by going to the cross which was the ultimate sacrificial act of surrender. For me, it was a constant reminder to yield my rights and surrender my wishes. And yes, folks that was the word ‘surrender.’

If you preface any of my previous themes with this word it truly brings it to the next level. Surrender love, surrender joy, surrender encouragement, surrender! To surrender love is to give it. Same with joy and encouragement. I could flip the words and enhance the meaning. Love surrendered. Joy surrendered. Encouragement surrendered. You get the picture. When we surrender something, we submit our will to doing the greater good.

The point today is if you don’t have a theme to work on yet for this year ahead, take some time to find one.

It will transform your thinking.

Grow you inside and out.

And, it will bring you to a closer level with our Lord; all the while helping you become a better version of you so you can be.the.church to the world daily.

So pick a theme and…

Do tell us what word (or words) you are using and it might just inspire another to do the same.

January is a perfect time to pick a theme or a life verse. Can’t wait to hear how it changes you.

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?Isaiah 43.19

“…be made new in the attitude of your minds; and put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 6.23-24
