So, here’s the deal. So often, we want to hash things out, talk till we are blue in the face, or give the ones we love a piece of our minds, but is that living in peace?
The Bible tells us for as much as it is up to us, we are to live at peace with everyone!
More often than not to do this, I believe we need to bridle our tongues! (Read the whole of James to learn more.)
Let those thoughts take a back burner never to be spewed out especially to non-believers! But, those closest to us are just as important (as your spouse, neighbor, co-worker, childhood friend).
Speak less and listen more.*
Then, you will…
The Bible has a lot to say about our speech but for today how about we just compare one verse found in Romans 12.18 in several versions to really grasp the meaning fully.
“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” NIV
“Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.” NLT
“If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all people.“
New Heart English Bible
