Those were Mr. President George H W Bush’s words.
What a legend!
What a man!
What a legacy for us to learn from and try to become for ourselves.
This President was the last of the greatest generation. At his funeral last month, I learned things I did not know about him before. Like the fact, that he alone was the sole survivor during a WWII mission where he parachuted out of his plane, plunged into the ocean below, and later was rescued by a submarine. He lived his life making sure he didn’t waste his second chance and that he did not.
What are you wasting your time with?
Are you living in such a way knowing the only thing worth living for is to hear seven words when you enter into heaven.
“Well done, my good and faithful servant!” (Mathew 25.21)
We should be living out our lives desiring to hear those words “Well done!”
I believe our former president heard those words as he entered into his eternal home that can be ours one day too. He departed this life humbly, well respected, and with full faith of where he was going.
If you don’t know how to get to heaven or what it means to prepare, take some time to read the apostle’s creed * (listed below for your convenience) which was also read at the funeral. These statements of belief of the Christian faith are good pondering points that not only George HW believed but millions upon millions that went before and will follow.
And what we can follow is his example and desire to live a truthful life where he didn’t blame others, was strong in conviction, did his best at what he put his hand to, always tried hard, and stayed the course.
Do the same and your life will be brighter, full of joy, and purposefully lived. Then when your time has come ‘well done’ is what you will hear!
Happy are those who die in the Lord. Rev 14.14 (paraphrased)
I pray you are one of those happy ones as you strive to…
on earth first.
*I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended to the dead.
On the third day, He rose again; He ascended into heaven, He is seated at the right hand of the Father, and He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (meaning pertaining to the whole Christian body) Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
